Summer Reading Opportunities - Want to continue reading during the summer? Well, there are lots of opportunities available to you. Here is a list of things you can do to increase your reading skills during the summer:
Scholastic- Read & log minutes all summer, unlock activities & earn rewards, enter for a chance to win Klutz books!
Barnes & Noble - Read 8 books and record them on this journal. Receive a free book!
Half Price Books- READ 15 MINUTES A DAY TO KEEP UP AN APPETITE FOR READING ALL SUMMER LONG. (Grown-ups may read aloud to kids who are still learning.) Download and use this reading log, add up your minutes and have your parent or guardian initial each week. Once you’ve reached 300 or more minutes, bring your log to your local HPB to claim your Bookworm Bucks on or before August 31, 2017.
Get Hooked on Reading- Encourages children in Grades 1-8 to read during the summer months. Hooks tickets and a pregame parade around the Whataburger Field warning track are the rewards.
Corpus Christi Public Library- Register at the library, read or listen to 10 picture books or 500 pages of chapter books, and write the titles down on your reading log. Return to the library with your completed reading log to receive your surprise bag and to place your name tag on our "wall of fame!" Children's Reading Club is for ages 0-12 and Young Adult Reading Club is for ages 13-18.
Pizza Hut- To help increase reading time during the summer months, Pizza Hut has partnered with Candlewick Press to bring your kids summer reading activities. Click on the links on the website to learn more about the books and download the activities.
Sync- SYNC is a free summer audiobook program for teens 13+. Returning April 27, 2017 SYNC will give away two complete audiobook downloads a week - pairs of high interest titles, based on weekly themes. In 2016, 30 titles were given away over 15 weeks.
